The Matching Options field allows you to select a specific mode that instructs our search engine how to interpret your search term and/or phrase.
This can assist you in getting more accurate search results as well as increasing them.
To search using a specific Matching option, perform the following steps:
- Enter a search term or query in the search query field.
- Click on the Matching options selector and select the required matching type to apply to your search term/query according to the following options:
Name Description Example Match any word Each of the search results will contain at least one word of your search phrase Query: Mountain Cats
Results:
- Mountain views.
- Mountain escapes.
- Cats in the wild.
Match all words
Each of the search results will contain all words of your search phrase.
Note: This option does not adhere to the word order of the query.
Query: Mountain Cats
Results:
- Historic mountain cats in the wild.
- Watching cats hunting on the mountain.
Match exact phrase
A search result will exactly match your search phrase.
Note: Exact match maintains the query's word order
Query: Mountain Cats
Results:
- Mountain cats in the wild.
- Viewing mountain cats climb.
Smart match (default) Each of the search results will contain at least 75% of the words in your search phrase.
Note: Smart match is an average between [Match any words] and [Match all words] options.
Note: This option does not adhere to the word order of the query.
Query: Large Mountain Cats
Results:
- Cat seen on a mountain ridge.
- Largest cat to ever walk the Everest.
- The Largest mountains in the world.
- Press enter/return or click on the magnifying glass icon (
). Relevant search results are displayed.
