Forecasting report allows you to see predicted future changes of your metrics based on the historical data analysis.
To create a forecasting report, perform the following steps:
- Access the report create page by either Creating a new report or Editing an existing one.
- Apply filters to your report according to the steps described here: How to Apply Filters to Your Report.
- Go to the 'SECTIONS' tab. The 'SECTIONS' tab is displayed.
- Select the relevant section representation type according to the following options:
Icon Name Description Table Displays your report data in a form of a table. Area chart Displays your report data in a form of an area chart. Line chart Displays your report data in a form of a line chart. Column chart Displays your report data in a form of a column chart.
Note: The forecasting option is available only for section types listed above.
Note: For further details, please see Report Section Type Examples. - Enter a name for your first section in the section name field.
Note: This will be the title of the data section representation area that is displayed at the top of the report. - Click on the 'Category Filter' field and select 'Date And Time' group from the drop-down list.
- Drag & drop the required dimension to the selected 'DIMENSIONS' area. Alternately, you can click the plus symbol '+' on each dimension.
Note: For a forecasting report, only Dynamic Date, Date, and Month dimensions are supported.
Important! For a forecasting report, only one Dimension can be selected.
Note: At least one dimension is required to create a report. - Select the 'Add Forecasting' check box.
- Optional: Search for a Metric using the search field. Relevant search results are displayed in the Dimensions and Metrics areas.
Note: A number will be displayed beside each area indicating how many matching results reside in each area (Dimensions/Metrics). - Optional: Select a required filter value under the 'Category Filter' drop-down to review a specific group of metrics.
- Drag & drop the required metric to the selected 'METRICS' area. Alternately, you can click the plus symbol '+' on each metric.
Note: Metrics that are active for Forecasting will have an 'F' indicator. You may select more than one metric for the forecasting report.
Note: At least one metric is required to create a report. - Go to the 'DIMENSIONS' area and click on the sorting arrow icon (
) to set the order of the data as either ascending or descending.
Note: Each click on the sorting arrow icon cycles through the three supported states: ascending, descending and none (Arrow up = Ascending, Arrow down = Descending). - Go to the 'METRICS' area and make sure that the order of the data defined with the sorting arrow icon (
) is set to none.
Note: Each click on the sorting arrow icon cycles through the three supported states: ascending, descending and none (Arrow up = Ascending, Arrow down = Descending). - Optional: Rearrange your dimensions and/or metrics from right to left to define their display order when running the report.
- Click on the forecasting indication icon (
) within each metric to activate/disable the relevant forecasting information in relation to the selected forecasting period you defined.
Important! At least one forecasting metric must be selected.
Note: A blue indication means that forecasting information will be displayed, while a gray indication means that forecasting information is disabled. - Click on 'SAVE SECTION'. Your section settings are saved.
- Optional: Add additional Sections to your report by clicking on 'Add New Section' and repeat steps 4 to 16.
- Click on one of the following options to save your report:
- SAVE - Selecting this option will save your report and remain in the report edit mode.
- SAVE & RUN - Selecting this option will save the report and redirect you to the run report screen.
