How to Create an MRSS Video Export

To create an MRSS Video Export, perform the following steps:

  1. Go to the Portal by clicking here.

  2. Hover over 'MEDIA' and go to 'ADVANCED' in the Portal menu. An additional menu is displayed.

  3. Click on 'VIDEO EXPORT'. The video export page is displayed.

  4. Click on 'CREATE NEW'. A new video export page will open displaying the 'BASIC INFORMATION' tab.

  5. Enter a name for your video export in the 'NAME' field.

  6. Click on the 'Company' field to search and select the owning company of this video export. This setting will control the scope of the video export and only videos under this selected company will be able to be exported.

    Note: The default company is inherited from the user's company context menu.

  7. Verify that the 'ENABLED' button is activated to define this video export feed as active. Deactivating this button suspends the video export feed.

  8. Under the 'EXPORT TYPE' field, select the 'MRSS' Type to define this video export as an MRSS video export.

  9. Apply the required fields according to the following table:

    Field Name    Description
    SOURCE TYPE

    Click on this field and select the required source type from the drop-down menu according to the following options:

    • Inline - Selecting this option will allow you to enter a custom search query in the 'SEARCH QUERY' field to select the videos you want for export.

    • Playlist - Selecting this option will allow you to select a predefined playlist in the 'PLAYLIST' field to define which videos will be exported.

      Note: The selected videos and/or playlist must be owned by the same company as the Video Export company.
    NUMBER OF ENTRIES

    Enter the maximum number of videos that should be included in the video export. For example, if this field is set to 20, but the Search Query returns 50 videos, only the first 20 in the search results will be included.

    Note: This limitation applies also to assigned playlists.

    SEARCH  QUERY

    When 'Inline' is Selected: Enter a custom search query to select videos from the Portal to be included in your Video Export. The default is to return only the videos that you own. By setting a custom search query string you are able to restrict the set of videos that are exported.

    For example: You might want to export sports videos to one client and entertainment videos to another.

    For further details on how to enter a valid search query please see How to Search the Portal and refer to the Search Syntax Input Methods section.

    Note: This field is only displayed if the 'SOURCE TYPE' field is set to 'Inline'. 

    Note: The video export feed will only include videos that uploaded under the same company that owns the Video Export.

    PLAYLIST

    When 'Playlist' is Selected: Click this field to search and select the required predefined playlist you would like to export. You can only export playlists and videos that are owned by the same company of the Export.

    Note: This field is only displayed if the 'SOURCE TYPE' field (see above) is set to 'Playlist'. 

    SORT BY

    These fields allow you to sort the content of the videos exported using this rule. The first order field allows you to select a denominator according to the following options:

    • Creation date - Select this option to order your exported videos by their creation date.
    • Modification date - Select this option to order your exported videos by their modification date (last time the content videos were edited or changed).

    The second field allows you to select order the denominator according to the following options:

    • Ascending - This will place the oldest videos created or modified (depending on your selection above) first.
    • Descending - This will place the most recent videos created or modified (depending on your selection above) first.

      Note: This field is only displayed if the 'SOURCE TYPE' field is set to 'Inline'.
    BUYER COMPANY

    Enter the name of the company you have entered in step 6. The company selected here must match the owning company of the Video Export.

  10. Go to the 'EXPORT OPTIONS' area.

  11. Apply the required fields according to the following table:

    Field Name    Description
    PLAYER

    Click on this field to search and select an embeddable player to be included to each of the exported videos. Once selected, an embed tag is included, in addition to the videos.

    Note: By default, only the videos are exported.

    Note: This will set the base player to be used, including the look and feel, ad settings, etc. 

    TRANSFORMATION URL

    Enter the Transformation URL of your custom ".xml Mapping" file in .xslt format.

    Note: This is required when you are using a custom feed that does not conform to our .xml feed format. This field will link to a custom mapping file that is used to interpret the feed URL you provided. 

    TRANSCRIPT Selecting this button will include any transcripts attached to the content videos.
    TAXONOMY Selecting this button will include any taxonomy attributes assigned to each of the content videos.
    CUSTOM METADATA Selecting this button will include any custom metadata assigned to each of the content videos.
    LARGEST SIZES ONLY Selecting this button will include only videos with the highest encoding size of each video.
    SUBTITLES Selecting this button will include any subtitles assigned to each of the content videos.
    RATING Selecting this button will include any rating attributes assigned to each of the content videos.
    CONTENT LIFECYCLE Selecting this button will include any content lifecycle attributes assigned to each of the content videos.
    LANGUAGE Selecting this button will include any languages assigned to each of the content videos.
    GENDER Selecting this button will include any gender attributes assigned to each of the content videos.
    AUDIENCE AGE Selecting this button will include any audience age attributes assigned to each of the content videos.
    PROVIDER Enter the name(s) of the provider(s) to be assigned to each of the content videos.
    PUBLISH DATE Select this button to include publish or modification date defined to each of the content videos. After activating the 'PUBLISH DATE' button, select the required date option from the drop-down list under the 'PUBLISH DATE CONTENT' field according to the following options:

    • Modification date - Select this option to include modification date to each of the content videos.
    • Publish date - Select this option to include publish date to each of the content videos.

    CAPTION Selecting this button will include any closed captions assigned to each of the content videos.
    ALT-TEXT Selecting this button will include any alternate text assigned to each of the content videos.
    ATTRIBUTION Selecting this button will include any custom attributes (parameters and values) assigned to each of the content videos.
    WRAP TEXT FIELDS IN CDATA Selecting this button will wrap any text fields assigned to the content videos with CDATA tags for .xml compatibility.
    LARGEST THUMBNAIL ONLY Selecting this button will include only videos having the largest thumbnails.
    EXCLUDE VIDEO URLS Selecting this button allows you to exclude URLs of content videos from the MRSS .xml file.
    ADHERE TO RSS 2.0 SPEC Selecting this button will modify your MRSS .xml file to adhere to RSS 2.0 spec requirements.
    RENDITIONS

    Click on this field and select specific video rendition from the drop-down list to include content videos with this rendition according to the following options:

    • ALL.
    • MP4.
    • HLS.
       
    CONTENT OWNER Selecting this button will include content owners assigned to each of the content videos.
    SORT THUMBNAILS AND RENDITIONS Selecting this button will sort the thumbnails and renditions sizes from the largest to the smallest.


  12. Click on 'SAVE & CLOSE'. The MRSS Video Export details page is displayed and active.

  13. Optional: In the MRSS Video Export details page, click on the .xml link to view your exported MRSS feed.
