What is the Difference between Automatic and Manual Approval Flows?

The 'Approval Type'  field in the Open Voice widget settings controls when and how a newly submitted video comment will be published.

Approval Type - Manual

When your Open Voice widget is set to Manual, this means that all submitted video comments, regardless if they pass or fail Profanity detection, must undergo review by your moderators and approved manually before being published to the Open Voice widget. When using this approval type, video commenters will be able to record up to 30 seconds of video.

Approval Type - Automatic

When your Open Voice widget is set to Automatic, this means that any submitted video comments that passed both our Nudity and Profanity detection services will be automatically approved and published to the Open Voice widget without the need of any manual moderator approval. When using this approval type, video commenters will be limited to 10 seconds of video as they might infringe upon copyright regulations in their videos.

Note: Automatic approval type is only available for Open Voice widgets targeted to the United States.

Important! Any video comment that fails our Nudity detection service will be automatically be removed and transferred to the 'Censored Content' area for review by Oath's Trust & Safety team, regardless of the 'Approval Type' setting.
