Create a New Connection

In order to receive an ad tag, you have to first create a connection to a Marketplace.

  1. Go to the Video SSP platform by clicking here.

  2. Click on the 'Marketplace' in the Video SSP platform menu and select 'Connections'. The connections page is displayed.

  3. Click on 'New Connection +'. A new connection page showing the 'General' tab is displayed.

  4. Enter a name for your connection in the 'Connection Name' field.

  5. Select a status for your connection according to the following options:

    • Live - Select this option to activate your connection for selling in a marketplace.

      Note: Selecting 'Live' status will automatically move your connection to 'Pending' tab in the connections page until further validation by Video SSP teams.

      Note: A connection to be selling only in a private marketplace does not require validation and becomes live automatically after saving.

    • Paused - Select this option to deactivate your connection and stop ad serving through it.

  6. Select the site verification type for your connection according to the following options:
    • Automatic - Select this option to automatically verify if the site where the ad request is coming from matches the domains list in your connection.
    • Page URL Override - Select this option to enable your connection to accept any domain from a trusted partner.

      Important! Select 'Automatic' option, if your player is VPAID compatible, and 'Page URL Override' in case your player is VAST only.

  7. Under the 'Format' field, select a format for the ads that can run on this connection according to the following options:

    • In-Stream Video (Default) - Select this option to allow ads that play in parallel with the video content - either before (pre-roll), in the middle (mid-roll) or after the video content (post-roll) - to run on this connection.
    • In-Banner Video - Select this option to allow ads that play as a display banner on a publisher's website to run on this connection.
    • Outstream Video - Select this option to allow ads that will play in an expanding ad-only player on a publisher's website to run on this connection.

  8. Under the 'Duration' field, set the duration of creatives that can run on this connection by selecting the required duration option from a drop-down menu according to the following options:

    • Up to 5 seconds - Select this option to allow creatives with a duration of 5 seconds max to run on this connection.
    • Up to 10 seconds - Select this option to allow creatives with a duration of 10 seconds max to run on this connection.
    • Up to 15 seconds - Select this option to allow creatives with a duration of 15 seconds max to run on this connection.
    • Up to 20 seconds - Select this option to allow creatives with a duration of 20 seconds max to run on this connection.
    • Up to 30 seconds - Select this option to allow creatives with a duration of 30 seconds max to run on this connection.
    • Up to 60 seconds - Select this option to allow creatives with a duration of 60 seconds max to run on this connection.
    • Up to 90 seconds - Select this option to allow creatives with a duration of 90 seconds max to run on this connection.
    • Up to 120 seconds - Select this option to allow creatives with a duration of 120 seconds max to run on this connection.

      Note: If Ad Pods option is activated, the selected duration option will apply to the length of the whole ad pod, and not each separate ad in the ad pod.

      Note: Maximum ad duration supported by Mobile Web tags is up to 30 seconds.

  9. For In-Stream Video only: Go to the 'Response Type' field and select the required ad response type according to the following options:

    • VAST 2.0 - Select this option if the publisher's player supports VAST 2.0 standard.
    • VAST 3.0 - Select this option if the publisher's player supports VAST 3.0 standard.

      Note: VAST 3.0 is retroactive, so demand will also include previous VAST versions compatible creatives.

      Optional: After selecting the ad response type option, define additional ad response settings by selecting the relevant check box according to the following options:

    • VPAID Flash - Select this option if the publisher's player supports VPAID Flash standard.
    • VPAID JS - Select this option if the publisher's player supports VPAID JS standard.

      Important! Selecting either of the VPAID response type options is mandatory for desktop.

      Note: We recommend that you select both VPAID Flash and VPAID JS (if supported) to maximize demand.

    • Failover (only for VPAID Flash or VPAID JS) - Select this option in addition to other response type settings for your player to fail over to another available matching ad in the event of an ad error.
    • Wrapper (automatically selected if you choose VAST) - Select this option in addition to other response type settings to accept ads served from outside the Video SSP system.

      Note: Ads served from outside the Video SSP are also called 3rd party served creative.

      Note: We recommend to always use Failover and Wrapper if your player is VPAID compatible.

      Note: For mobile web, only select VPAID JS and not VPAID Flash, since VPAID Flash does not work on mobile.

  10. Under the 'File Format Support' field, select a supported file format for VAST response type according to the following options:
    • Flash (.flv).
    • HLS (.m3u8).
    • MPEG-4 (.mp4).
    • WebM (.webm).
    • Windows Media (.wmv).

    Note: This field is active only if If VAST 2.0 or VAST 3.0 is selected in Response Type.

    Note: This field is not active if VPAID Flash or VPAID JS are selected as additional options in Response Type.

    Note: You can select more than one option.

    Note: We recommend to always select MPEG-4 (.mp4) option, and then additionally select any other options supported by your player.

  11. For Outstream Video only: Go to the 'Tag Type' field and select your connection tag type according to the following options:
    • Player (embedded Ad Tag) - Select this option to generate an embedded player tag and the ad tag itself.
    • Ad Tag Only - Select this option to generate an ad tag that can be used with third-party outstream players.

  12. Apply mandatory fields according to the following table:

    Field Description
    Content Type Define the type of video content that your connection will support according to the following options:

    • In-Stream Video - Select this option to support traditional video content that is related to page topic, shown after the ad is played and lasts for at least 60 seconds between the ads.
    • In-Game Video - Select this option to support flash games video.
    • Interstitial Video - Select this option to support take-over ads that are typically displayed before taking the viewer to the desired content page.
    • In-Banner Video - Select this option to enable showing your video in a 300x250 display ad spot.

      Note: Video player automatically stops after one ad impression or playlist has at least 60 seconds of content between ad plays.

    • Mobile Application - Select this option to support ads inside of an app on mobile devices.
    Content Quality (for In-Stream Video content type only) Define the content video quality according to the following options:

    Note: Your defined content video quality should be consistent with IAB Long Form Video standards. 

    • Professional - Select this option for your connection to support professional video quality.

      Note: Professional video is usually created or produced by media and entertainment companies using professional-grade equipment, talent, and production crews that maintain the rights for distribution and syndication.
    • Semi-professional - Select this option for your connection to support semi-professional video quality.

      Note: Semi-Professional video refers to consumer or user-generated content that has professional or industrial qualities (e.g. shot with professional-grade equipment, using professional talent, etc.).
    • User-generated - Select this option for your connection to support user-generated video quality.

      Note: User-generated video quality refers to publicly available video content that is created or produced by end-users.
    Video Quality (for In-Stream Video content type only) Define the ad video quality according to the following options:

    Note: Your defined ad video quality should be consistent with IAB Long Form Video standards. 

    • Professional - Select this option for your connection to support professional video quality.

      Note: Professional video is usually created or produced by media and entertainment companies using professional-grade equipment, talent, and production crews that maintain the rights for distribution and syndication.
    • Semi-professional - Select this option for your connection to support semi-professional video quality.

      Note: Semi-Professional video refers to consumer or user-generated content that has professional or industrial qualities (e.g. shot with professional-grade equipment, using professional talent, etc.).
    • User-generated - Select this option for your connection to support user-generated video quality.

      Note: User-generated video quality refers to publicly available video content that is created or produced by end-users.
    Ad Initiation Select an ad start type according to the following options:

    • Auto-initiated - Select this option for your connection to support ads that start playback automatically after the web page is fully loaded.
    • User-initiated - Select this option for your connection to support ads that start playback after a user takes an action for the video to start.
    Ad Audio Select whether the video player that your connection will support will start with or without audio according to the following options:

    • With Audio - Select this option for your connection to serve ads on players that start playback with audio enabled. An ad unit will play automatically at an audible level.
    • Without Audio - Select this option for your connection to serve ads on players that start playback without audio. An ad will play without audio, and a user has to turn it on.
    Player Size (for Outstream Video format only) Set player width and height that your connection will support.

    Note: The minimum supported player size is 300x250.

  13. Optional: Apply any additional optional fields according to the following table:

    Field Description
    Channel Name

    Enter a custom channel name that will be displayed in reporting instead of the site domain.

    VPAID Lite

    You can select to deactivate Video SSP pre-bid targeting detection technology that runs prior to ad selection. Select one of the radio buttons to set the required pre-bid targeting detection technology status according to the following options:

    • No - Select this option to continue running this detection on all opportunities.
    • Yes - Select this option not to run this detection.

    Note: Selecting this option may lead to lower demand and/or lower CPMs.

    Ad Pods

    Select the 'Enable' check box to serve ad or combination of ads to fill the specified 'Duration' option.

    Note: An ad pod is a combination of one or more linear video ads that play between linear video content.

    Note: If ad pods are not enabled, this connection will not support ad pods and Video SSP will return a single ad each time the tag is called.

    Note: Ad Pods are not supported when selecting only VAST 2.0 and/or VPAID JS.

    Note: If VAST 3.0 or VAST 2.0+VPAID Flash are selected in Response Type, the Ad Pods is enabled by default.

    Companion Size

    Select the 'Custom Selection...' radio button for your connection to support companion banners. Then, set the required size for the supported companion banner by selecting the check box with the relevant companion size option.

    Note: Clicking on the '+Custom' button allows you to set custom width and height for your companion banner. The maximum value is 1000 px, and the minimum value is 1 px.

    Display Text (for Outstream Video format only) Add a custom text that will be displayed on a page above the outstream unit.
    First Price Auction Select 'Enabled' to enable bid requests from your marketplace connection to accept both first price auction and second price auction bids.
