Targeting Inventory to a Connection

Target inventory to a connection to determine what inventory you want to flow through this connection.

Follow the steps below to target your connection.

  1. Access your connection create page by either creating a new connection or editing an existing one.

  2. Click on the 'Targeting' tab. The Standard subtab of the targeting tab is displayed.

  3. Under the 'Standard' subtab, define targeting parameters for your connection according to the following table:

    Field Description
    Geography Select target geographical locations for your connection according to the following options:

    • All Countries and Territories (Default) - Select this option to allow your connection to accept ad requests from all countries.
    • Specific Country - Check a radio button against a required country to allow your connection to accept ad requests from this specific country only.
    • Custom Selection... - Check this radio button and manually enter a name(s) of a country(ies) in either 'Include' or 'Exclude' window to allow/prevent your connection to accept ad requests coming from this country(ies).
    Devices Select target devices for your connection according to the following options:

    • All Devices (Default) - Select this option to allow your connection to accept ad requests from all device types.
    • Custom Selection... - Check this radio button to select a specific device type to enable your connection to accept ad requests coming from this type of device according to the following options:
      • Desktop and Laptop Computers.
      • Mobile Phones.
        • Android Phones.
        • iPhones.
        • Windows Phones.
        • Other Mobile Phones.
      • Tablets.
        • Android Tablets.
        • iPads.
        • Windows Tablets.
        • Other Tablets.
      • Internet Enabled TVs.
      • Game Consoles.

        Note: We recommend not to combine desktop and mobile inventory in one connection, but create a separate connection for each device type.

        Note: You can select more than one option.
    Operating Systems Select target operating systems for your connection according to the following options:

    • All Operating Systems (Default) - Select this option to allow your connection to accept ad requests from all operating systems.
    • Custom Selection... - Check this radio button to select a specific operating system to enable your connection to accept ad requests coming from this operating system according to the following options:
      • Windows 10.
      • Windows 8.1.
      • Windows 8.
      • Windows 7.
      • Windows Vista.
      • Windows XP.
      • Mac OS X.
      • iOS.
      • Linux.
      • Android.
      • Other Operating Systems.

        Note: You can select more than one option.
    Browsers Select target browsers for your connection according to the following options:

    • All Browsers (Default) - Select this option to allow your connection to accept ad requests from all browsers.
    • Custom Selection... - Check this radio button to select a specific browser to enable your connection to accept ad requests coming from this browser according to the following options:
      • Chrome.
      • Firefox.
      • Internet Explorer.
      • Safari.
      • Opera.
      • Other Browsers.

        Note: You can select more than one option.
    Mobile Carriers Select target mobile carriers for your connection according to the following options:

    • All Mobile Carriers (Default) - Select this option to allow your connection to accept ad requests from all mobile carriers.
    • Custom Selection... - Check this radio button and manually enter a name(s) of a mobile carrier(s) in either 'Include' or 'Exclude' window to allow/prevent your connection to accept ad requests coming from this mobile carrier(s).

      Note: You can select more than one option.
    Internet Service Providers Select target internet service providers for your connection according to the following options:

    • All Internet Service Providers (Default) - Select this option to allow your connection to accept ad requests from all internet service providers.
    • Custom Selection... - Check this radio button and manually enter a name(s) of an internet service provider(s) in either 'Include' or 'Exclude' window to allow/prevent your connection to accept ad requests coming from this internet service provider(s).

      Note: You can select more than one option.
    Days of Week Select target days of week for your connection according to the following options:

    • All Days of Week (Default) - Select this option to allow your connection to accept ad requests regardless of day of week.
    • Custom Selection... - Check this radio button to manually select days of the week when your connection will be allowed to accept ad requests.

      Note: You can select more than one option.
    View Hours Select target view hours for your connection according to the following options:

    • All View Hours (Default) - Select this option to allow your connection to accept ad requests during all view hours.
    • Custom Selection... - Check this radio button to manually select view hours during which your connection will be allowed to accept ad requests.

      Note: You can select more than one option.

  4. Go to the 'Audience' subtab.

  5. Under the 'My Selections' area, define whether you will allow or restrict the selected audience segment from seeing the ads served through your connection according to the following options:
    • Includes Group - Select this option to allow the selected audience segment to see the ads served through your connection.
    • Excludes Group - Select this option to restrict the selected audience segment from seeing the ads served through your connection.

  6. Optional: Under the 'Audience Segments' area, in the 'Search & Filter' field type a search query to find a specific audience segment.

  7. Optional: Navigate manually through the list of segments using the arrow buttons to drill down and up through the list.

  8. Choose the required segment by clicking on the '+' icon against it. The selected segment is displayed under the 'My Selections' area.

  9. Optional: Repeat steps 5-8 to add another audience segment to either your includes or excludes list.

    Note: You can make both lists of audience segments includes and excludes in parallel.

  10. Optional: Select the 'Save this Audience' check box to save your audience segments selections.

  11. Optional: Go to the 'Other' subtab.

    Note: Under the 'Other' subtab, you can apply additional targetting parameters to your connection using key-value pairs and custom keys.

  12. Apply custom targeting parameters to your connection according to the following table:

    Field Description
    Targeting Parameter Select the required targeting parameter from a drop-down menu.
    IN/ NOT IN/ CONTAINS/ NOT CONTAINS Define whether you allow or restrict ads that match your custom parameter from being served through your connection by selecting the relevant status from the drop-down menu according to the following options:

    • IN - Select this option to allow ads matching your custom parameter to be served through your connection.
    • NOT IN - Select this option to restrict ads matching your custom parameter from being served through your connection.
    • CONTAINS - Select this option to allow ads to be served through your connection if they match your custom parameter search query.
    • NOT CONTAINS - Select this option to restrict ads from being served through your connection if they match your custom parameter search query.
    Parameter value Enter your custom parameter value or search query by typing its name and pressing enter/return. 


  13. Click on '+ Targeting Parameter' to add another custom targeting parameter to your connection.

  14. Optional: Go to the 'Advanced' subtab to manually edit your targeting expression.

    Note: The targeting expression represents the summary of your standard and custom targeting parameters.

  15. Click on 'Save & Exit'. Your connection is saved.
