How to Create a New Advertiser Rule

To define advertiser rules for a seller org:

In the main menu navigate to Admin > General Settings > Advertiser Rules.

Select Create New Advertiser Rule.

Result: The advertiser rules workflow opens in the General tab.

 

General Tab Settings

In the General Tab define general advertiser rule settings. For details, see General tab in Advertiser Rules.

Note: Mandatory fields are marked in bold and with a red asterisk.

 

Set values in General Options:

 

  1. Define the rule Status.

Note: Only a Live rule blocks advertiser domains from delivering.

  1. Define the Advertiser Rule Name (mandatory) and enter a Description (optional).

  2. Select one of the Rule Types:
  • Blocklist: Allows the selections on the Advertiser tab.
  • Whitelist: Allows the selections on the Advertiser tab.

 

Advertiser Tab Settings

In the Advertiser tab define the advertiser specific rules, which are applied across the inventory selected in the Targeting tab (If no targeting selected, then entire org). For details, see Advertiser tab in Advertiser Rules.

 

Set up the values in one or multiple sections:

Advertiser Names

  1. Clicking Add Advertiser opens the Add Advertiser window.
  2. Define the advertiser you wish to block (type one entry per row). You can also copy and paste large lists from Excel or another external source, one entry per row.
  3. Click Save & Exit to confirm your selection.

Advertiser Domains

  1. Clicking Add Domains opens the Add Domain window.
  2. Define the advertiser domains you wish to block (type one entry per row).

You can also copy and paste large lists from Excel or another external source, one entry per row.

Note: Do not enter the full host name (http://www.site1.com) when specifying advertiser domains. Enter only the second-level domain (site1.com).

  1. Click Save & Exit to confirm your selection.

Advertiser Categories

  1. Clicking Edit opens the Available Categories list:

 

 

  1. Select one or multiple categories, which are based on the IAB standard:
  • Clicking + Add All selects all subcategories of a main category.
  • Clicking + All selects a specific subcategories under a main category

Result: Your selection(s) is add to My Selections.

  1. Click Apply to confirm your selection.

 

 

Targeting Tab Settings

Optionally, define additional rules in the Targeting tab, which are assigned to the inventory (for the incoming ad request).

For details, see Targeting Tab in Advertiser Rules.

  1. Click Edit to open the sections for editing.
  2. Click Apply to confirm  and save the selections you made in the specific targeting sections.

Set up the values for one or multiple criteria:

Targeting Location and Device Parameters

  1. Optionally, change the default settings.
    By default, the broadest targeting parameters for each section are selected (to enable the greatest inventory availability).

Targeting Media Lists

  1. Decide, if you want to target a Media List positively (Applied Whitelist) or negatively (Applied Blacklist).
  1. In My Selections activate either Applied Whitelist or Applied Blacklist.
  2. In Available Media List click +Add to add a specific media list to My Selections.
  3. Optionally, click Remove for specific selections or Remove All in My Selections for the entire selection by clicking .

2. Optionally, create new list and click +New Media List.

Result: The New Media List window opens.

Advanced Options for Targeting

  1. Optionally, define specific key value pairs or inventory objects. The ad server applies the rules strictly on the basis of the selected inventory object, and the key value pair based on the incoming request.
  • Key Value Pair: All keys that are enabled for the seller org on network level can be used for targeting. The available key operators depend on the key set.

    Note: Key value pair targeting supports direct inventory only.

  • Inventory Objects: Optionally, change the default settings. The default setting is ALL, which signifies that the rule is applied across all inventory objects unless specified otherwise.

    Note: If no targeting is selected, the rule is applied across the seller org.

Save & Exit to save the Advertiser Rules.
